The successful postholder will work alongside our existing ACP to provide care, interventions and diagnosis to children attending the Children's assessment (CAU). The post holder will be supported by the medical team.

The post holder will receive patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, assessing their health care needs, based on highly developed nursing/AHP knowledge and skills, including skills not usually exercised by nurses/AHPs, such as physical examination. Screen patients for disease factors and early signs of illness. Make differential diagnoses using decision-making and problem-solving skills.

To provide care as per the Advanced practice four pillars:
Clinical Practice, Leadership & Management, Education, and Research.

To assess & manage unwell children who attend CAU. With support and training to conduct a Rapid Access Clinic (RAC) for children who meet the criteria following their CAU attendance.

To have undertaken the Advanced Paediatric Life Support Qualification or equivalent (or willingness to undertake).

To analyse and interpret history, presenting symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop the appropriate differential diagnoses.

To diagnose and manage acute and long-term conditions while attending to the patient's response to the illness experience.

To employ appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and regimens with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy.

To formulate an action-plan based on scientific rationale, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines.

To initiate appropriate and timely consultation and/or referral when the problem exceeds the ACPs scope of practice and/or expertise.

To assess and intervene to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations.

• Clinical based professional degree
• Current registration with the NMC or HCPC
• Advanced Practice MSc or NHS England credentialing via the supported e-portfolio route.
• Management / leadership qualification or attendance at equivalent study days (masters qualification or equivalent)
• Non-medical prescriber (V300)
• Evidence of continuous professional development in line with the four pillars of advanced practice.

• Evidence of extensive professional/clinical knowledge managing unwell patients in the community, primary or acute setting.
• Evidence of patient history taking, clinical examination and developing management plans for patients.
• Experience of managing own caseload
• Knowledge and experience of managing chronic disease and long term conditions.
• Effective communicator - able to communicate complex and highly sensitive information
• Able to demonstrate experience of leading service development and quality improvement work
• Evidence of effective people management and leadership skills
• Experience of teaching staff
• Evidence of involvement in policy and practice change
• Evidence of working at a senior position within an appropriate health care field
• Evidence of proactive involvement in the mentorship and development of nurse and AHP practice
