Answer yes to any of these questions and this could be the post for you. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified registered Adult Nurse to join our Acute and Chronic Conditions research team, facilitating a range of studies across multiple specialties all which contribute to improved outcomes and experience of patients health. You will have a key working relationship with the Team Leader, other team members and Clinicians in developing a portfolio of studies.

There will be opportunities to work on a variety of studies whilst helping to promote a research active culture within the acute and chronic conditions specialties  are looking for someone who likes a challenge and can work autonomously when appropriate whilst contributing to the wider team. You should be a good communicator and be confident interfacing with patients & staff at all levels.

The Research Development and Innovation Department at East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust works closely with Trust based clinicians, Universities, NHS and industry partners to give the local population of East Lancashire the opportunity to take part in research studies associated with their clinical conditions and the care and services they receive. We have developed a wide portfolio of studies & a growing reputation as a major player in clinical research.

Location & Flexibility

This post will be based within the Acute and Chronic Conditions Research Team (ACC Team), supporting research studies within various disciplines including but not exclusively, Anaesthetics, ICU, Surgery, ED/Trauma, MSK, Stroke, Diabetes, Dermatology and Cardiology. You will be working as part of our small, friendly team, responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting patients throughout their research journey. The post is primarily based at Blackburn Royal Teaching Hospital.

However, the post holder may also be expected to support trials at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and other Trust sites, to meet the needs of our patients and studies. Therefore flexibility is an essential attribute. Most of the research activity is undertaken Monday to Friday within normal office hours. However, research activity times may also vary and early starts (7:00 onwards) or late finishes (after 5pm) may be required to accommodate studies involving morning theatre lists & late running clinics.

This will always be on a planned basis & a flexible working policy is in place.
