The post holder will work within a multi-professional / agency context and take a lead with coordinating internal training. The post-holder will provide advice on child in need / child in need of protection issues/ safeguarding adult, policies, procedures and clinical practice which will
enable the trust and its workforce to conform to mandatory and statutory frameworks appertaining to the Safeguarding Agenda to ensure the most appropriate outcome for children, young people and adults are achieved. The post holder will work closely with the Named and Lead Professionals for Safeguarding to ensure appropriate quality assurance mechanisms are
in place and to assist in the development of skills and competencies of the workforce and BTH NHS FT staff.
Provide expert safeguarding advice across Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT), ensuring the effective implementation of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice. Support the assessment and management of complex safeguarding concerns involving children, young people, adults, and families, offering specialist guidance to Trust staff and partner agencies.
Work collaboratively with Named and Lead Professionals to ensure compliance with statutory and contractual safeguarding responsibilities, including Section 11 of the Children Act 2004. Provide safeguarding advice to Police, Social Care, and other partner organisations, contributing to the protection and well‑being of vulnerable individuals.
Support complex case management, prepare and present reports for multi‑agency meetings, strategy discussions, and case conferences, and contribute to child death review processes where required. Exercise professional judgement and autonomy in safeguarding decision‑making, including for children with complex needs, looked‑after children, and vulnerable adults.
Represent the Trust within multi‑agency safeguarding forums and steering groups. Demonstrate resilience in managing highly sensitive and emotionally demanding work, provide support to colleagues, contribute to Trust objectives, and deputise for the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children as required.
