Sister​/Charge Nurse - Ward C4

Are you an aspiring nurse clinical leader with excellent clinical skills who can lead and motivate others? Ward C2 is a fast- paced acute General Medical ward which has a complex case mix of patients. It is part of a dynamic service area. As a junior sister in Acute Medicine you will need to enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to prioritise and supervise all aspects of care delivery within the ward environment.

You will need to demonstrate high standards of care and have the ability and character to ensure that the team around you work to those standards. You will enjoy nurturing and developing the team around you and will support the senior ward sister in ensuring that team members are supported and developed through completion of PDRs and work based training.

You will need to be an excellent communicator who can engage professionally with patients, families, all allied health professionals and the nursing team. You will be required to support the Senior Sister and Matron in service development including completion of audit and the implementation of improvement plans. In return we will support your development within the team and support your clinical and professional development.

• Support the provision of a clean environment
• Ensuring improvements in patient outcomes and the safety, effectiveness and experience of their care
• Assist in the developing of nurse leadership, improvement, and management of services within the escalation ward area in order to ensure the highest standards of patient care and service are delivered in the most efficient and effective way.
• Ensuring best practice in infection control
• Treating patients with dignity and respect
• Assist the ward manager in the provision of senior nurse leadership during both regular and unsocial hours
• Assist the ward manager in ensuring all quality improvement work is implemented and sustained.
• Ensure safe and effective discharge planning.
• Supporting the delivery of the Nursing Strategy at all times. Be a confident role model for the junior nursing team

• Evidence of professional expertise acquired through CPD, Post basic qualification in specialty, current NMC Registration
• Able to deliver a high standard of Evidence based individual patient care
• Delivers nursing care in line with Trust policies and protocols
• Effective communicator with good leadership and interpersonal skills
• Evidence of ability to take charge in the absence of their direct line manager
• Degree level studies or equivalent portfolio of evidence
• Demonstrates specialist knowledge across a range of work procedures and practices
• Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners
• Evidence of involvement in the development of protocols and clinical audit
• Effective communicator with good leadership and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in using electronic health records.
