About the Company

We are exclusively representing a hugely innovative manufacturing organisation who are at the forefront of their specialist field, whilst continuing their growth through the diversification into other markets.

Established 30+ years, they are stable and not afraid to invest, and design and manufacture an award-winning range of products at their site in East Lancashire.

Role Overview

They now seek to recruit an engaging and passionate Health and Safety Manager to join their leadership team, accountable for H&S related advice and support over four manufacturing sites. The Health and Safety Manager will work as part of the SLT to set policy, and drive, monitor and improve health and safety standards and activities for a Group employing over 400 people.

They will work closely with functional managers in production, engineering, warehouse and offices to drive a true safety culture and maximise employee engagement with a focus on protective and preventative actions and behaviours.

This role is predominately based in East Lancs at the larger manufacturing facilities but will require some travel to other sites in the South of the UK as required to fulfil the role (the amount of time necessary will be determined by the incumbent and is not prescriptive). This is a site based role.

Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent degree level education in occupational Health and Safety.
  • TechIOSH or GradIOSH membership.
  • Proven experience in Health and Safety lead role in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Hands on experience managing statutory compliance for PUWER and COSHH.
  • An authoritative source of expertise on UK health and safety legislation.
  • Proven achievements in driving a safety first culture, and the introduction and sustainment of behavioural safety initiatives bringing about improvements.
  • Knowledge of ISO
45001 – ideally with implementation experience and auditing skill set.
  • Strong communication and presentation/reporting skills.

Most importantly, we seek an enthusiastic, committed, dynamic H&S "subject matter expert". Down to earth, people focused, and a true change agent, the successful candidate will be pragmatic, tenacious and results focused.

This is a growing and long established business with a total commitment to world class safety standards and a stable, forward-thinking management team in which to work.
