My client in Lancashire is seeking an experienced Food Safety Officer to support its Food Safety team on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension.
The role will focus on medium to low-risk food hygiene inspections and would suit an officer who is confident carrying out inspections independently, advising food business operators and ensuring compliance with food safety legislation.

• Undertaking medium to low-risk food hygiene inspections in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice
• Assessing food safety standards and identifying areas of non-compliance
• Taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary
• Providing advice and guidance to food business operators
• Completing inspection reports and maintaining accurate records
• Managing an allocated inspection programme and associated casework
• Supporting the wider Food Safety team where required

• Experience undertaking food hygiene inspections within a Local Authority setting
• Competency to carry out medium to low-risk food safety inspections
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene legislation and the Food Law Code of Practice
• Ability to manage an inspection programme independently
• Strong communication and report-writing skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
