Deputy Manager – Maarten Roeterink Consultancy

Job Summary and Mission:
To deputise in the Store Manager's absence, manage the store effectively, and maximise sales to exceed targets. Deliver outstanding personal customer service whilst motivating and developing the store team. Maintain high standards of merchandising, housekeeping, and general safety while enforcing company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Set SMART goals for the team, develop staff capability, and model company best practice.
  • Stay calm during periods of high customer volume and manage smooth transitions to keep the store operating to standard.
  • Demonstrate a customer‑first attitude and hold the store team accountable for delivering legendary customer service.
  • Manage with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values and mission of Cards Direct.
  • Plan, identify, communicate, and delegate responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth flow of operations.
  • Provide coaching and direction to the store team to take action and achieve operational goals.
  • Constantly review store environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilise existing tools to communicate clearly, concisely and accurately, ensuring effective store operations and merchandising standards.
  • Use all operational tools to plan for and achieve operational excellence.
  • Ensure product and cash security at all times.
  • Utilise organisational tools to ensure compliance with the company Health & Safety policy.
  • Coach, give feedback and provide developmental opportunities to team members and build effective teams.
  • Challenge and inspire team members to achieve business results.
  • Ensure team members adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
  • Recognise and reinforce individual and team accomplishments.
  • Maintain progressively responsible retail experience and customer service experience in a retail environment.
Qualifications
  • Progressively responsible retail experience.
