Waking Night Support Worker - Preesall, Blackpool
30 hours per week
£15.00 per hour
Job Responsibilities- Provide overnight support to young people in a 3-bed EBD home based in Preesall, Blackpool, ensuring their safety and wellbeing throughout the night shift.
- Monitor and respond to the needs of young people, offering emotional support and reassurance as required.
- Maintain accurate records of overnight activities, incidents, and observations in line with organisational policies.
- Implement care plans and support strategies tailored to individual needs, promoting positive behaviour and development.
- Ensure the safety and security of the home environment during the night shift.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to support the young people's needs and progress.
- Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the protection of vulnerable young people at all times.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to continually enhance skills and knowledge.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in children's services, particularly with children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
- Knowledge of children's care and support, including anti-social behaviour, challenging behaviour, and case work.
- Skill in lone working and managing challenging situations with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Enrolled on an NVQ in Children's Care or equivalent, or at least 2 years' relevant experience without formal qualification.
- Unqualified support workers are welcome at £15 per hour; those enrolled on NVQ or with 2+ years' experience are eligible for £16 per hour; qualified and NVQ-completed staff can earn £17 per hour.
- Relevant skills include:
Child and Young Person Care, Advice and Guidance, Budgeting and Financial Management, Challenging Behaviour Management, and RSW - Adolescents. - Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, demonstrating excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
