Position: Talkzone Worker| Permanent| Part-Time - 29.6hrs

Job Description

Salary £28,142 - £32,061 per annum (Pro Rata). Permanent, Part‑time, 29.6 hours per week.

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting young people and families? Do you have the skills to connect, listen, and guide—often when it matters most? Join our Talkzone Team, where every conversation can change a life.

Talkzone is a dynamic, confidential advice service supporting young people aged 11–25, and parents and carers. The service runs 365 days a year (2 pm–10 pm) via phone, text, email, and webchat.

Shift pattern: rolling rota of 5 days on, 5 days off, evenings 2 pm–10 pm, 7 days a week all year round.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice, guidance and support via phone, text, email and online chat
  • Build instant rapport with young people and families, often in challenging situations
  • Signpost to the appropriate services to meet individual needs
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and sensitive issues
  • Record interactions and maintain accurate case information
  • Conduct follow‑up calls and collect user feedback
  • Support social media engagement and maintain up‑to‑date service information
  • Work independently and collaboratively to deliver high‑quality outcomes
Qualifications
  • Excellent communicator with strong listening skills
  • Ability to think quickly and respond effectively under pressure
  • Skilled in problem‑solving and critical thinking
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for improving outcomes for children, young people and families
  • Experience or ability to work directly with young people or families
  • Ability to build rapport without face‑to‑face contact
