Probation Services Officer

• Manage a caseload of offenders before and after sentence.
• Assess and manage risks, provide information to courts and work closely with agencies across the justice system.
• Support offenders with practical advice on housing, employment and other areas, and listen and empathise with their challenges.
• Produce clear and accurate reports to tight deadlines.
• Implement sentence requirements and oversee offender management.

• No degree required.
• Strong personal qualities: empathetic, patient and resilient.
• Experience working with people who have social or personal difficulties.
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce reports under time pressure.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.

The job is open to the following nationalities, where the right to work in the UK is established:

• UK nationals
• Nationals of the Republic of Ireland
• Nationals of Commonwealth countries who have the right to work in the UK
• Nationals of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein and family members with settled or pre‑settled status

• Turkish nationals and certain family members who have accrued the right to work in the Civil Service

• Annual leave: 25 days on appointment, increasing to 30 days after five years of service, plus public holidays.
