Family Support Worker – Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting children, young people and families to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes?

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join a supportive team in Blackburn on a full-time basis.

The Role

As a Family Support Worker, you will work closely with children, young people and their families, providing practical and emotional support to help improve family relationships, wellbeing and stability.

You will build positive relationships with families, identify their individual needs and work alongside other professionals to ensure appropriate support is provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide practical, emotional and tailored support to children and families.
  • Build trusting and professional relationships with parents, carers and young people.
  • Support families to develop positive routines, parenting strategies and coping skills.
  • Help identify barriers affecting a child's wellbeing, development or education.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, social care and other professionals.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to assessments and support plans.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.
  • Encourage families to develop confidence, independence and sustainable positive change.
About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Confident working with children, young people and families.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Resilient, organised and able to manage challenging situations.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider team.
  • Committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and families.

Previous experience in family support, social care, education, youth work or a similar setting is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
