Transport Planner

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced and organised Transport Planner to join a well-established organisation operating within the environmental services sector. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a growing team dedicated to delivering efficient, compliant, and sustainable transport operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and coordinating transport activities, ensuring resources are utilised effectively while maintaining high standards of service, safety, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate daily transport and logistics activities
  • Create and manage transport schedules to meet operational requirements
  • Optimise vehicle routes to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs
  • Monitor transport operations and respond to changing priorities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation, safety standards, and company procedures
  • Utilise transport planning systems and route optimisation tools effectively
  • Liaise with drivers, operational teams, customers, and external stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across transport and logistics functions
  • Maintain accurate transport records and operational data
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in a Transport Planner, Logistics Coordinator, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of transport planning, route optimisation, and logistics operations
  • Experience managing and coordinating transport activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Good knowledge of transport compliance, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and adapt to changing operational demands
  • Proficient in the use of transport planning and logistics software
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience with in environmental services, waste management, agriculture, or related sectors
  • Knowledge of transport modelling and fleet optimisation techniques
  • Relevant qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or a related discipline
