Project Manager, Operations Manager

California Compaction Corporation has been helping shape California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada for over 33 years. We are a full-service General Engineering Site Development Contractor. We can take your project from start to finish. Projects can range from 25 lot residential subdivisions to heavy industrial or clean energy of any size.

The Project Manager will oversee the successful execution of large-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects from planning through completion. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, coordinating with construction teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met. The Project Manager will maintain hands‑on involvement through regular site visits, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations while driving overall project performance.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in heavy civil construction, including grading, trenching, roads, and foundations, coupled with strong leadership, scheduling, and problem‑solving skills. This position requires the ability to work both in the field and the office, with flexibility to travel as projects demand.

• Manage day-to-day operations across all phases of solar and BESS construction projects.
• Collaborate with internal construction management team, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure all company standards are met.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients; maintain excellent client relations.
• Read and understand contracts; author subcontracts and other required construction documentation.
• Oversee contract, budget and schedule.
• Prepare cost proposals or contract change orders.
• Monitor construction progress (production and cost) and conduct regular site visits to maintain project oversight.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental policies, and quality standards.
• Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including schedules, reports, and project tracking logs.
• Assist in the development of project scopes, budgets, and resource planning.
• Supervise and delegate work to project engineer(s).

• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Project Manager on large-scale renewable projects.
• Heavy civil construction background, with proven experience managing grading, trenching, roads, and foundations.
• Hands‑on experience working directly on job sites.
• Strong understanding of construction scheduling software and project controls.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Project-specific travel required, up to 20%.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred (not required).

This position requires working on construction sites in extreme temperatures. Specific vision abilities required include the ability to adjust and focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for long periods, walk, sit, kneel, bend, reach with hands and arms, hear, and talk.
