Responsibilities
  • Be visible, greet, engage, and assist customers actively.
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
  • Adhere to company policies on cash shortages/overages and control loss effectively.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay current with ads and promotions.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify management.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
  • Create a welcoming environment, answer product questions, and ensure customers feel valued.
  • Comply with all relevant laws and company guidelines.
  • Work effectively in high-paced, stressful environments and manage conflicts professionally.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Qualifications
    • Customer service experience
    • Effective communication skills
    • Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
    Desired Experience
    • Previous customer service experience
    • Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
