Description
Antelope Valley College invites applications for our adjunct (Temporary, part-time) faculty applicant pool for the following Stagecraft Instructor.
Representative Duties- Instruct students in the assigned discipline, such as but not limited to, Stagecraft, Fundamentals of Lighting, and/or Technical Theatre Production.
- Assignments may include teaching courses during the day, evening, online courses, and/or off‑campus sites.
- Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience, or the equivalent.
- Comparable equivalency is not required per faculty division.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (Title 5 §53024.1).
- Practical and collegiate instruction experience in stagecraft, lighting, and technical production courses.
- Experience teaching students to work as stage technicians and identifying qualified students to serve as crew for productions, including instructing during crew work and the production’s strike.
- Act as the Technical Director for Theatre Arts theatrical productions during the semester, consulting with faculty and staff on budgeting, purchasing, and technical elements.
- Attend all production meetings, rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances as faculty representative of the technical side.
- Work as a team member with producer, director, designers, and AVC Performing Arts Theatre staff and crew.
- Collaborate with set and lighting designers to guide student execution of set construction and lighting designs.
- Coordinate with the AVC Performing Arts Theatre Technical Director for use of all Performing Arts spaces, including the Scene Shop, stage areas, and equipment.
- Provide technical oversight, guidance, and training to student theatrical crew members on proper use of tools and theater equipment, basic theater practices, techniques, and work standards.
