Designated Supervisor of Locomotive Engineers/Road Foreman (Lancaster, CA)

This role supports the Metrolink service at our Lancaster, CA crew base. The expectation is that the successful candidate will be on-site, with flexibility to cover other crew bases in the greater Los Angeles area. The successful candidate will be located in the Lancaster/Palmdale or Santa Clarita area. Relocation may be offered.
Your future role"Take on a new challenge and apply your comprehensive locomotive operations and supervisory expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated, knowledgeable, and dynamic teammates. You'll provide crucial leadership and ensure the safe, efficient operation of our locomotives and trains, making a significant impact on our service delivery and safety standards. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project & Bid Management, Safety, Training, and Compliance), mentor and oversee our locomotive engineers and conductors, and much more."
We’lllook to you for:
- Monitoring employees for compliance with regulations and operating practices.
- Initiating action for non-compliance in a consistent and fair manner.
- Managing employees and train operations to optimize On‑Time Performance (OTP) and making recommendations to improve performance.
- Responding to service disruptions within your area of responsibility.
- Enforcing safety plans and maintaining a thorough understanding of operating, PTC, and safety rules.
- Providing comprehensive written and oral reports.

- Degree in Transportation, Business or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience or understanding of supervisory roles within an FRA regulated railroad environment.
- Knowledge of FRA Regulations on Operating rules GCOR, Timetable and Special Instructions.
- Familiarity with the physical layout and operation of the Authority’s rail system.
- Locomotive Engineer Certification.
- Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.
- Work with a dedicated team to optimize train operations and ensure safety compliance.
- Progress towards a leadership role in managing and mentoring locomotive engineers and conductors.
- Utilise our safety-focused working environment.
- Contribute to innovative projects.
Pay Range: $ to $ depending on experience/qualifications.
This position is eligible for Railroad Retirement.
