Position: Biomedical Technician - Biomedical - Full Time/Days - Req#2080698259

Job Objective

The Biomedical Technician works independently overseeing the maintenance and inspection of all medical equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Tests and repairs biomedical equipment and ensures all new and repaired instruments are properly inspected before they are put into service
  • Provides effective routine periodic inspections of equipment, preventive maintenance, and calibration of biomedical equipment
  • Makes scheduled inspections and tests necessary to maintain conformance to code requirements and documents this activity
  • Provides emergency service for biomedical equipment
Non-Essential Duties
  • Maintains and updates the inventory of biomedical equipment
  • Maintains a reasonable perpetual inventory of replacement parts and standby equipment to minimize delay in service
  • Recommends the replacement and acquisition of test instruments and equipment

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the practices and procedures, methods, tools, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment
  • Knowledge of types of medical equipment available and the supply procedures for acquisition

  • Skilled in interpreting wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and service documentation
  • Skilled in diagnosing and analyzing medical equipment
  • Skilled in the use of test equipment, tools, and materials involved in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment

Education and Experience Education
  • Completion of college level study in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or electronic related field desired.
Experience
  • 2 years minimum experience in hospital setting as a Biomedical/Clinical technician
Required Licensure and/or Certifications
  • CBET desired

Key

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Work performed in hospital environment requiring frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting and reaching.
  • Work often in tight conditions
  • Frequently lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Occasionally pushing/pulling 50 lbs and above
  • Work from ladders
  • Work around biohazard material
