job objective

under the direction of the section supervisor, assistant director and director of radiology services, radiology technologist ii performs a wide variety of radiographic procedures and complex duties requiring a high degree of accuracy with latitude for independent initiative and judgment. Promotes, follows and adheres to the values set by avh. Provides technical assistance in planning, organizing and controlling the workflow in order to accomplish the objectives of our department.

Delivery of quality customer services which meets or exceeds expectations to patients, physicians, physician office staff, and visitors.

• ability to be on your feet 95% of the time and physically able to assist in lifting patients that could weight 200+ pounds from stretchers and wheelchairs to and from the x-ray table.
• frequent lifting, bending, stooping, walking or standing with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a shift.
• prepares room, equipment and materials for radiograph/procedure.
• courteously greets, identify and introduce yourself to the patients and escorts to and from exam room.
• prepare patient for exam, discuss and explain procedure to patient.
• perform radiographic exams and procedures using proper technique.
• positions patient in safe and proper manner for exam.
• assist the patient before, during, and after the procedure as needed. Prepare contrast material as required.
• maintain observation of patient and equipment for duration of exam. Does not exceed department’s repeat rate standard.
• follows guidelines for radiation protection for patient and staff while maintaining quality of diagnostic imaging.
• qualified to perform radiographic procedures in or, er, nursing floors, portable procedures, and within the department and process exams.
• willing to work in any area, and flexible in meeting the needs of the department.
• evaluate radiographs for good quality.
• uses good technical/patient skills.
• uses proper work methods with injured patients.
• demonstrates knowledge regarding special needs and behaviors of age specific groups.
