Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit – Full Time/Nights

A Registered Nurse is responsible for the nursing care of patients as established by the Nursing Practice Act of the Board of Registered Nursing of the State of California and as guided by policies and procedures of the Medical Center.

Responsibilities
  • Apply the nursing process in direct patient care.
  • Provide accurate assessment and documentation of physiological, psychosocial, cultural, developmental, socioeconomic, and spiritual needs of patients within appropriate time frames.
  • Develop a logical sequence of action, update nursing care plans, and evaluate patient progress each shift.
  • Provide information to patients/families and direct their educational process.
  • Conduct discharge planning beginning on admission with appropriate referrals.
  • Adhere to admission and transfer criteria and all current policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and document outcomes of medical, nursing, and ancillary interventions.
  • Incorporate time‑management skills to accomplish care.
  • Operate technical equipment safely, efficiently, and accurately.
  • Assist in maintenance of a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment.
  • Use clean and aseptic techniques, prevent infection, and follow the Exposure Control Plan.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency codes and respond appropriately.
  • Supervise care provided by others and ensure quality of care.
  • Provide accurate and concise patient care reports.
  • Maintain professional attitude and working relationships with staff, patients, families, and volunteers.
  • Operate within privacy laws and maintain confidentiality of PHI.
  • Adhere to all corporate compliance policies and the Code of Conduct.
  • Complete mandatory initial and annual training.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, and physicians.
  • Follow the Chain of Command and conflict management processes.
  • Show willingness to follow directions and accept constructive criticism.
  • Apply knowledge of age‑specific and cultural needs and participate in related training.
Non‑Essential Duties
  • Participate in unit or hospital‑based committees.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, within compliance with Title 22, The Joint Commission, and CMS.
