Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 6997)
Game Stop is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role requires minimal supervision and a passion for gaming and customer service.
Responsibilities- Provide best‑in‑class guest service by greeting guests promptly, responding to inquiries, and guiding them throughout their visit.
- Support the overall shopping environment, visual and operational elements, and sales initiatives to maximize guest loyalty.
- Process purchases and returns accurately using the point‑of‑sale (POS) system.
- Handle phone calls courteously and address customer concerns, escalating when necessary.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefit programs (reservations, trade‑in, Pro Rewards).
- Train and set service expectations for store associates, including policies and procedures.
- Provide feedback to associates and document performance in Workday or HR system.
- Ensure associates complete onboarding, training, and compliance before they work shifts.
- Schedule associates, manage breaks, and supervise staffing levels.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify compensation.
- Maintain the store’s cleanliness, merchandising, and operational standards.
- Fulfill Omni‑Channel orders and protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention.
- Assist the store team in exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and perform required administration.
- Count inventory, restock merchandise, and maintain shelf organization.
- Reconcile daily business transactions and handle bank deposits.
- Verify shipments, record discrepancies, and process defectives accurately.
- Maintain safety awareness and report injuries.
- Organize store records and ensure manuals are updated.
- Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies, procedures, and the Associate Handbook.
- Execute all opening and closing procedures.
- Outgoing personality with strong people skills.
- Provide individualized assistance to guests.
- Clear verbal and written communication; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to achieve objectives in a fast‑paced environment.
- Independently and collaboratively perform tasks on schedule.
- Meet associate performance expectations (attendance, appearance, safety).
- Operate POS systems and perform basic math.
- Complete paperwork accurately.
- Follow written or verbal instructions.
- Execute financial tasks in line with company policy.
- Work flexible schedule, nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum 3 days/week.
- Manage pressure, remain creative and problem‑solving.
- Reliable and trustworthy; exercise good judgment.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, lift up to 30 lb., and perform basic motor skills.
- Understand military ranks and insignia (for military base locations).
- Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
- Minimum age 18.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
$19.65 – $23.65 per hour.
