Overview

Field Service Technician - Lancaster CA role at BYD North America. RIDE is seeking a hardworking Field Technician for the Customer Service Department. The field technician will be responsible for working at customer facilities diagnosing and repairing buses/trucks under warranty and performing customer support and campaigns required by RIDE or the customer vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision of the Customer Service Manager or Supervisor, complete work assignments at customer facilities and BYD locations, and may be asked to perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Perform diagnosis and repairs of warranty related issues. Provide customer interface and reports on field maintenance activities.
  • Determine, coordinate, manage resources required to meet goals and assign resource workflows in the CRM.
  • Respond to customer requests, comments or complaints as needed. Assist customers with maintenance related issues.
  • Order parts as needed, coordinate repairs, and provide daily service reports and parts requisitions as needed.
  • Diagnose air brake systems and troubleshoot air valve problems.
  • Suspension diagnostics relating to air suspension, track bars, and leveling valves.
  • Heavy-duty ABS systems diagnostics and repairs.
  • Replace heavy-duty brake rotors, pads, and air disc calipers.
  • Coordinate new vehicle delivery acceptance with customers in the US and Canada.
  • Provide daily status reporting to the Customer Service Manager/Supervisor.
  • Follow up with Parts clerks for parts availability and ETA.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of transit bus maintenance operations and field service support.
  • Two or more years of experience preferred.
  • ASE Transit Bus Certifications
  • Transit bus Technician experience, preferably in a field service environment.
  • Experience in bus maintenance and repair. Experience with computer-based diagnostics in bus maintenance operations and bus electric drive systems preferred.
  • Ability to travel and work in the customer’s environment. Weekends, nights and long hours will occur.
  • License:
    Valid driver’s license in home state with no more than one infraction in the previous three years. Class B with Passenger Endorsement preferred. If not, ability to obtain.
  • Air brake systems and the ability to troubleshoot air valves.
  • Suspension diagnostics relating to air suspension, track bars, leveling valves.
  • Heavy-duty ABS systems diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to replace heavy-duty brake rotors, pads, and air disc calipers.
  • Proficiency with a digital volt-ohm meter (DVOM).
  • Insulation tester for high-voltage components.
  • Preferably experienced in heavy-duty EV or Hybrid systems.
  • Preferably experienced with bus door systems.
  • Preferably experienced with bus kneeling systems.
  • Preferably experienced with Dinex I/O Control systems.
  • Preferably experienced with wheelchair lift and ramp systems.
  • Preferably experienced with AC and DC charging systems for vehicles and chargers.
  • Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
