Athletic Support Assistant Short-Term Hourly (STH)
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, assists the Athletic Equipment Assistant with a variety of duties involving the issuing, receiving, storing, and repairing of equipment and assisting in maintaining athletic facilities; performs other related responsibilities as may be assigned.
Distinguishing CharacteristicsThis position is distinguished from related classes in that it provides short-term hourly work for a limited term in the Athletic Department.
Representative Duties- Assists in maintaining the athletic equipment room; storing, issuing, receiving, repairing, and maintaining inventories for equipment used in the College sports programs.
- Prepares gymnasium and athletic equipment for athletic events including the set up and breakdown of equipment for department practices and games.
- Assists in the issuing of clothing, protective pads, shoes, balls, bats, rackets, and other equipment.
- Assists in keeping accurate records that document equipment issued to and returned by student‑athletes.
- Assists in inspecting clothing and equipment for needed repairs and reports anything needing repairs to the Athletic Equipment Assistant.
- Assists in operating commercial washer and dryer.
- Supports the athletic department with general equipment‑related tasks as needed.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
- High school graduation or GED.
- Previous experience with athletic equipment or a general interest in sports.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies for college athletic and kinesiology programs.
- Methods of cleaning, maintaining, and repairing athletic uniforms and equipment.
- Guidelines for a variety of athletic competitions.
- Storage and inventory principles and practices.
- Record‑keeping techniques.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
Receives general supervision by Athletic Equipment Assistants as well as direction from the Athletic Director or designee.

Physical EffortMUST be able to lift and carry heavy equipment when necessary.
Working Conditions- Indoor and outdoor work environment.
- Work schedule to be determined by supervisor based on department needs for a limited term.
