Vital Core Health Strategies (VCHS) – Souza Baranowski Correctional Center (SBCC), Lancaster, MA

Job Overview – The Mental Health Professional will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on the Behavioral Health Unit to provide proactive, collaborative care to the inmate population. This is a part‑time position (8 hours per week, Saturdays).

The mental health professional supports a multidisciplinary team, providing crisis stabilization, intakes, ongoing evaluations, and service coordination.

• Provide crisis stabilization, complete intake assessments, and conduct ongoing evaluations.
• Offer individual, group, and crisis therapy.
• Participate in monthly behavioral health calls and collaborate with medical staff to determine treatment plans.
• Perform risk assessments of inmates and coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members, community providers, psychiatric hospitals, and corrections staff.
• Assist in discharge planning and implementation of program goals and objectives.
• Prepare documentation, records, and reports, maintaining excellent and timely documentation skills.
• Utilize clinical skills such as prioritizing treatment needs, crisis management, and brief interventions including CBT and Motivational Interviewing.

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field.
• Minimum two‑year experience in a social work capacity within a public or private agency (or equivalent).
• Ability to make independent clinical decisions while working under supervision as needed.
• Satisfactory background investigation report.

Part‑time – 8 hours per week (Saturdays).
