South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Staff Accountant at our Lancaster office.
ResponsibilitiesInclude performing general accounting tasks and assisting with keeping all accounting records in accordance with the RUS Uniform System of Accounts. This individual will ensure that our financial processes run smoothly and efficiently, participate in the annual budgeting process, and be responsible for various accounting tasks such as closing monthly financial statements, supporting internal audits, preparing compliance filings, maintaining records, and preparing reporting packages for the Board of Directors and management.
The role also involves working collaboratively across departments.
The successful candidate will develop strong relationships, be highly self-motivated and detail-oriented, proficient in accounting practices and procedures, and an advanced user of the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel. Candidates must also be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner and have experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
This position reports to the Accounting Manager and is based in Lancaster, Ohio.
Job Related QualificationsQualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. Candidates working toward CPA licensure are preferred.
- Applicants should have prior experience, whether through internships, coursework, projects, volunteer work, or extracurricular activities.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize multiple systems/products fluently.
