PayBase hourly rate: $21.00/hr shift differential: $1.00/hr for 2nd shift (4 pm‑2 am, Monday‑Thursday).

- Job Status/Grade: Hourly
- Job Title: Solvent Coater Operator
The Solvent Coater Operator is responsible for operating an emulsion acrylic adhesive coating machine to coat coils of paper, film, or foil with pressure‑sensitive adhesive. Duties include machine set‑up, quality checks, record maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Essential Job Functions- Set up the coater for each operation.
- Place rolls of face paper and backing substrate on shafts and position correctly on the machine.
- Adjust control dials to regulate substrate speed, oven temperature, and adhesive flow.
- Operate the coater at maximum speed for each product.
- Inspect pre‑production samples for correct pattern materials, web dimensions, etc.
- Provide test samples to Quality Assurance as required.
- Check materials pre‑, in‑process, and post‑production using calipers and rulers.
- Stop production if specifications are not met.
- Record labor and product data accurately in the ERP system.
- Label rolls for shipment, inventory, or next process.
- Maintain accurate, neat machine reports.
- Report material problems to Supervisor and Quality Assurance.
- Recommend and implement improvements to process and equipment.
- Resolve minor equipment and process problems; report major problems to Supervisor.
- Operate forklift and clamp truck as required.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Handle startup and shutdown of the machine.
- Keep work area neat and orderly.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
- Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Mechanical aptitude and prior machine operator experience.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Written communication: clear and informative writing; effective data presentation; competent reading and interpretation.
- Quality: demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work for quality.
- Quantity: meets productivity standards; completes work timely; seeks increased productivity.
- Safety and Security: observes procedures; reports unsafe conditions; uses equipment properly.
- Attendance/Punctuality: consistently present and on time.
- Preferred:
- Background in math or mechanics.
Employee must be able to talk or hear; frequently use hands or fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; stand; walk; sit; squat; kneel; reach; occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and focus adjustment.
