- Plan, coordinate, schedule and supervise onsite operations of foremen, site crews, customers, and subcontractors to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and that performance objectives are met.
- Perform pre-job inspection and layout.
- Coordinate trucks, material delivery, and traffic control.
- Must have a thorough understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or may be encountered; take corrective action as needed.
- Complete various reports to ensure contract compliance.
- Train crews as needed on methods and equipment.
- Keep crews accountable for safety and production rates and qualify control.
- Comply, understand, and support safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment.
- Identify job site safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize these concerns.
- Maintain good client relations.
- Must have the initiative, ability and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested.
- Work with Asphalt Division Manager to ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Continually improve proper working techniques through training, processes & procedures.
- Work in conjunction with Asphalt Division Manager and Asset Manager to ensure equipment and trucks are kept in good repair and available for use when needed.
- Work safely, wear applicable PPE and notify supervisor of any potentially unsafe situations.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Remain productive for the entire workday.
- Maintain personal appearance in accordance with company policy.
- Show a willingness to learn job site goals and company-wide goals.
- Perform any other special projects as needed.
- High School Diploma, advanced training preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience supervising asphalt paving projects.
- Thorough knowledge of the construction industry and its means and methods.
- Previous experience with asphalt paving and grading.
- Must be able to understand blueprints and grades.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage workers.
- Must be able to work independently as well as with other crew management, customers, subcontractors, and the general public.
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management and fellow employees.
- Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
- Consistently arrives for work at the scheduled time.
- Follow proper procedure for absences from work.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment
- Ability to communicate with many types of people in different roles.
- Ability to prioritize and managed schedules of people, equipment and materials to ensure the company goal and mission is met.
- Ability to plan and follow through the execution of projects to completion.
