Medical‑Surgical nursing is where strong assessment skills, critical thinking, organization, and compassionate care come together. You’ll care for a diverse patient population while working closely with physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, case management, therapy, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
No two shifts are exactly the same — and the work you do matters every day.
What You'll DoAs a Medical‑Surgical RN, you will:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care
- Care for patients with a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Monitor changes in patient condition and respond appropriately
- Educate patients and families throughout their hospital stay
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate care
- Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and an exceptional patient experience
- Provide compassionate, patient‑centered care during every interaction
Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum of one year of work experience as a Registered Nurse required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Registered Nurse license through the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a qualifying compact state
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Depending on position requirements, additional certifications may include:
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- Crisis Prevention training
