Emergency Crisis Mgmt/ Disaster Relief, Dispatcher
Oversees shift dispatch staff by scheduling and assigning tasks, monitoring data entry and information received by call takers and dispatchers, monitoring radio transmissions, and training employees.
- Answers incoming calls by receiving inquiries from the public and from officers for various requests; gathering and providing requested information; answering calls from other agencies requesting assistance; contacting departments; monitoring channels; and dispatching information for service.
- Assists with the training process of newly employed dispatchers, recommending selections, and preparing training materials.
- Addressing issues pertaining to policies and procedures.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
High School Diploma or GED
- Must meet the minimum standards for entry level dispatcher and possess a Telecommunicator’s license within a minimum of (2) two years’ experience as a dispatcher
- A valid class C driver’s license with a clean driving record is a requirement of this position
- Terminal Agency Coordinator
- Certified Training Officer Certificate (CTO)
- 5304 - Dispatcher as a trainer and supervisor.
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to follow instructions and lead fellow employees in the completion of work related assignments. The ability to effectively communicate and interact with department personnel and members of the public. Position requires work both at night and on weekends, as this is a 24/7 facility with varying shifts. Must be able to pass extensive background investigation, including drug screen.
