Semi Senior Accountant

We’re recruiting for an experienced Practice Accountant / Accounts Semi Senior or Senior to join an established independent accountancy practice in Lancaster.

This is a broad, client-facing position offering exposure across accounts, tax and advisory work, with responsibility for managing your own portfolio of SME clients.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Preparing year-end and statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients
• Preparing personal and corporation tax returns
• VAT returns and associated compliance work
• Managing your own portfolio of clients
• Dealing directly with clients and responding to queries
• Attending client meetings and providing practical accounting and tax advice
• Reviewing work prepared by junior members of the team
• Supporting and developing junior staff
• Working with cloud accounting packages and helping clients improve their accounting processes

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice
• Around 4+ years' practice experience
• Experience preparing year-end accounts and tax returns
• Good knowledge of personal tax, corporation tax and VAT
• Experience dealing directly with clients
• Strong communication and organisational skills

The firm is flexible on qualification level and will consider candidates who are:
