Assisting customers with accessing digital resources and information.
Supporting in the planning and delivery of events (e.g. author events, class visits).
This is a temporary two‑year role, averaging 37 hours per week. You will also work some evenings and weekends, over a two‑week rota.
What We’re Looking ForOur ideal person will be welcoming and friendly, have a love for reading and be passionate about sharing this.
You will have excellent communication and digital skills, be able to work with a range of stakeholders and be able to deliver a customer‑focused service.
As an apprentice, you will work with a team to offer a high‑quality library and information service and support the planning and delivery of a diverse range of events and activities. You will support and encourage customers to access online information and resources, for example accessing free eBooks and newspaper apps or helping someone find reliable information, such as applying for a passport.
Apprentices will gain in‑depth knowledge about the Library Service and receive appropriate training and support to assist in the provision of an efficient and effective library service. You will work towards gaining the work‑based qualification in Library, information and archive services assistant (Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education).
Sometimes you will need to work at other locations, and the role may involve some lone working.
