Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead and deliver a civil engineering package on a live construction site. The role will involve full project oversight across drainage works, concrete works, and new pedestrian walkways, working closely with the client to ensure programme, quality, and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
 
* Overall management and delivery of civil engineering works, including drainage, concrete pours, and walkway construction
 
* Provide proactive leadership of the project team in conjunction with the client
 
* Act as the main point of contact for the client, ensuring clear communication and cooperation at all times
 
* Plan, coordinate, and manage site activities to ensure works are delivered on programme and within scope
 
* Monitor quality standards and ensure works are delivered to specification
 
* Ensure site operations comply with all SHEQ requirements and company procedures
 
* Coordinate subcontractors and site management teams
 
* Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve site issues as they arise
 
* Chair site meetings and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders
 
* Ensure site documentation, RAMS, and records are maintained and compliant
Essential Requirements
 
* Proven experience as a Project Manager within the civil engineering / infrastructure sector
 
* Strong experience delivering drainage, concrete, and external works packages
 
* SMSTS – Managerial Certificate
 
* CSCS Card
 
* First Aid at Work
 
* Clear criminal history
 
* Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
 
* Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
 
* Able to manage programmes, subcontractors, and site teams effectively
 
* IT literate and comfortable using a laptop for reporting, documentation, and communication
Desirable (Not Essential)
Background working on live operational or public-facing sites
Experience working directly with local authorities, utilities, or framework clients

The role:

* Freelance contract
 
* Up to £400 per day (rate dependent on experience, work history, and overall suitability)
