Are you a leader with a passion for seeing young people encounter Jesus and grow as disciples? Do you dream of creating a youth ministry where teenagers genuinely belong, are deeply loved, and discover their God-given purpose?

St Thomas' Lancaster is ranked 13th nationally in the Church of England for 0-18s weekly attendance
. Now we're looking for someone to take our youth ministry to its next chapter.

You’ll Lead Something Already Thriving

• Oversee STYLE (St Tees Youth Lancaster England) - our dynamic weekly Thursday gathering
• Guide age-specific discipleship huddles and Sunday youth groups
• Take young people to festivals like Resolute (local youth gathering), Abide (Diocese of Blackburn youth gathering) , and Satellites (national youth festival)
• Work with an already fantastic team of committed volunteers

You’ll Be Part of Something Bigger

• St Thomas' is a dynamic evangelical charismatic Anglican church connected with New Wine, the Evangelical Alliance, and exploring deeper partnership with 24/7 Prayer.
• We're renewing our vision around transformation - reaching higher in the Spirit, wider in welcome, deeper in discipleship, and further in mission.

• Develop and articulate a clear vision for youth ministry aligned with our church mission
• Lead, train and inspire a team of volunteer leaders
• Champion a culture of mission and evangelism among young people

Hands-On Ministry

• Deliver engaging teaching, worship and activities that spark spiritual growth
• Provide pastoral care and mentoring, including one-to-one support
• Support transitions (especially Year 6 to Year
  7) and develop young leaders
• Plan special events: socials, retreats, outreach activities
• Work closely with our Children and Families team and wider staff
• Build partnerships with local schools and city-wide youth initiatives
• Ensure safeguarding best practice across all activities

• Active Christian with living faith in Jesus Christ and a contagious passion for Scripture and prayer
• Experience leading youth ministry in a church context
• Proven ability to develop young people and volunteer teams
• Strong communication and relational ministry skills with teenagers
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• In sympathy with our evangelical-charismatic Anglican ethos (you don't need to be Anglican!)
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
• Relevant qualification in youth work, theology or education
• Full UK driving licence
• Leadership or coaching training
• Experience with contemporary youth culture and social media

Salary: £27,711 – £30,060 pro rata (based on experience and training)

Reports to: Vicar

Benefits Include:

• 6 weeks holiday including 6 Sundays
• At least 1 Sunday morning off per half-term to worship as a congregant
• One week personal retreat per year
• One week conference leave per year

St Thomas’ Church is situated in the centre of Lancaster, a historic city in the northwest of England. St Thomas’ Church is at an exciting stage of life; we estimate around 400 adults and 150 under-18s are coming regularly to our weekly gatherings, with 40-50 students also attending, particularly at the 7pm service. As a charismatic, evangelical Anglican church, St Thomas’ is committed to sharing God’s love from the heart of the city.
