Youth Worker – Early Help Targeted Youth Support – Lancaster & Morecambe – Part time

Join Lancashire County Council to apply for the Youth Support Worker | Early Help Targeted Youth Support | Lancaster & Morecambe | Part time role.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised, and passionate Youth Support Worker to deliver youth work in the Lancaster & Morecambe District. The role is part‑time, 4 days per week (up to 29.6 hours), including up to four nights per week (one Friday evening). Work may be on‑site in a building or in the community using our mobile youth bus.

Responsibilities
:

  • Deliver high‑quality, informal education opportunities that support personal and social development.
  • Work with young people challenged in education, community or home life to help them transition successfully to adulthood.
  • Engage youth through detached/outreach work, SEN provision (ages 11‑19; up to 25 with SEN), safe spaces and targeted youth placements.
  • Support district youth councils and participate in regional and national work.
  • Facilitate enhanced programmes such as LGBTQ+ groups and mental‑health groups.

Qualifications and Experience
:

  • Nationally recognised JNC Level 3 qualification in Youth and Community Workers (or the willingness to study and complete the qualification through a Level 3 apprenticeship, with course fees paid by the Council).
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Passion for working with young people and a commitment to their development.

Terms
:

  • Part‑time – 29.6 hours per week, 4 days.
  • Nights per week – up to four (one Friday evening).
  • Work location – Lancaster & Morecambe District (buildings and community). Mobile youth bus may be used.
  • Pay – based on position (not listed).

  • Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) applies; DBS required if successful.
