We are looking for a committed and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist education setting from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people who require additional help to engage in education and develop socially, emotionally, and academically. You must already hold an enhanced DBS on the update service to apply for this role.

We are a specialist independent school located in a rural setting near Lancaster
, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
, autism, and associated challenges. Our provision caters for learners who may have experienced disruption in mainstream education and require a more personalised, nurturing approach.

Role Overview

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. You will help to create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where students can build confidence, regulate emotions, and achieve their potential. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and therapists to provide tailored support to meet individual needs.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with a range of SEMH and additional needs during lessons
  • Provide one-to-one and small group interventions
  • Assist in implementing individual education and behaviour support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Help pupils develop independence, self-esteem, and social skills
  • Support outdoor learning and enrichment activities where appropriate
  • Maintain a calm, consistent, and supportive presence throughout the school day

Experience working with SEMH, autism, or in a specialist or care setting is highly desirable. However, full training will be provided for the right candidate with the right attitude and commitment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
