Please note: this job is only available to current employees of Lancaster University

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced General Practitioner to provide academic leadership for the development and implementation of a new longitudinal Hospital to Community teaching programme within the Year 3 MBChB curriculum.

This innovative programme is a core component of the new MBChB curriculum and has been designed to help students integrate learning from clinical placements through structured, facilitated clinical debriefing. It will enable students to understand patient journeys across primary, secondary and community care, supporting the development of clinical reasoning and systems-based practice.

As Academic Lead, you will lead the design, implementation and evaluation of this new educational initiative, ensuring a high-quality and consistent learning experience across all clinical placement partners. You will develop five three-hour teaching sessions and associated learning resources, recruit and support GP and clinical facilitators, coordinate delivery across partner NHS Trusts and primary care settings, establish quality assurance and programme evaluation processes, and use student feedback and educational outcomes to drive continuous improvement.

You will also ensure the programme is fully aligned with the MBChB curriculum, GMC Outcomes for Graduates and Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) requirements.

You will be a registered General Practitioner with a strong interest in undergraduate medical education and experience of curriculum development, teaching and educational leadership. You will have excellent organisational and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively across university and NHS partners to deliver an engaging and high-quality educational experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape a major new element of the MBChB curriculum and make a lasting contribution to the education of future doctors.
