Overview of the job

The job holder will undertake the full range of work with people on probation before and after sentence. This includes assessment, sentence implementation, offender management and producing reports. The role provides case‑management support to a full range of people on probation, utilising service procedures and practice directions that underpin professional judgement.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of medium and lower risk offenders before and after sentence.
  • Assess and manage the risks associated with offenders.
  • Provide information to courts and work closely with agencies throughout the justice system.
  • Support offenders with practical advice about housing, employment and provide emotional support.
  • Produce clear and accurate reports to tight deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with people who have social or personal difficulties.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Empathetic, patient and resilient.
  • Good computer skills and ability to produce detailed reports.
  • Right to work in the UK (UK nationals, Irish, Commonwealth, EU, Swiss, Norwegian, Icelandic, Liechtenstein nationals and qualifying family members, Turkish nationals and eligible family members, and individuals with limited or indefinite leave to remain).
Working Arrangements

The role requires coverage in both Lancaster and Kendal offices. Hybrid working may be possible subject to business needs.

Salary and Pay

Starting salary £28,064, with annual pay progression through the Competency Based Framework. New entrants start at the minimum pay band.
