Community Midwife - Lancaster

We are recruiting enthusiastic, highly motivated community midwives/birth centre midwives to join our dynamic, dedicated, forward thinking professional team which serves a wide geographical area with rural and urban communities.

Responsibilities

The role involves working within the community as an autonomous practitioner within a multi‑disciplinary team. You will provide high‑quality, women‑centred maternity care, effective leadership, optimise teaching opportunities and support staff across all grades. You will give appropriate education to women and families and provide necessary care, advice and supervision throughout the pregnancy continuum, ensuring appropriate referral to other agencies and specialist midwifery teams where required.

  • Provide home birth and birth centre births, maintaining high clinical standards.
  • Maintain good relationships with other team members to ensure women receive safe care.
  • Lead and optimise teaching opportunities for staff.
  • Support staff in all grades, planning and directing activities to provide optimal care.

Person Specification Education and qualifications
  • Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Current driving licence
  • 1st level degree in relevant field
Experience
  • Evidence of clinical competence to work autonomously within a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Ability to make appropriate clinical decisions and prioritise care needs.
Skills, ability and knowledge
  • Committed to CPD for self and others.
  • Knowledge of research methodology.
  • Understanding of the role of Research and Development.

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 a year, pro rata.
