Job OverviewWe are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide a safe, efficient and cost‑effective Aseptic Preparation Service within the multidisciplinary team at Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities- Assist in providing a high quality, patient‑focused aseptic service, particularly in chemotherapy compounding.
- Support senior technicians in the day‑to‑day running of the pharmacy aseptic service, including training of technicians, apprentices and assistants.
- Facilitate efficient and cost‑effective use of medicines within the aseptic unit.
- Provide safe, timely, cost‑effective pharmaceutical services for patients and staff.
- Train and re‑validate staff in all aseptic practices and collaborate with managers on daily duties.
- Recognised pharmacy technician qualification.
- NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent.
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Accredited checking qualification and registration with Northwest framework (equivalent to NVQ level 4).
- GCP accreditation.
- Assessor Award.
- Relevant experience in hospital pharmacy or other pharmacy settings.
- Experience dispensing medications, drug receipt, record keeping and cold chain maintenance.
- Experience with hospital pharmacy and aseptics.
- Experience with clinical audit and data analysis.
- Experience in specialist pharmacy roles.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy procedures, practices and legislation including COSHH.
- Good manual, accuracy and analytical dispensing skills.
- Knowledge of training requirements for technical/support posts.
- Ability to motivate self and others and lead a team.
- Clear communication with patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Influencing and teaching skills.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Word and dispensing/record‑keeping applications. - Additional computing skills: presentations and spreadsheets.
