Job Summary

NWPS is a well‑established team that provides psychological services across two prison groups (Cumbria and Lancashire and Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire) and two probation regions (North West and Greater Manchester). Our regional approach to service delivery offers a diverse range of work opportunities, including assessment and intervention with adult male prisoners, training, consultancy, and research in reception, training and resettlement prisons.

We also provide specialist clinical input to three PIPEs and a Progression Regime and deliver the OPD core offender management consultation service for public and privately managed prisons. This role is part of a strong relational working ethos within a team of trainee and qualified psychologists, and is evolving in response to new demands such as supporting transitions for those serving indeterminate sentences and providing clinical consultation for the Building Choices accredited intervention across our NW prisons.

Lancaster, Leyland, Liverpool, Millom, Preston, Rochdale, Warrington, Wigan (North West).

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical consultation to the accredited intervention “Building Choices”.
  • Act as an establishment psychology lead (EPL) and/or serve as a point of contact for an NWPS/PSG workstream.
  • Serve as a coordinating (clinical) supervisor for trainees undertaking recognised training routes.
  • Engage in various work streams across the region, including safety, research, training, and assessments.
  • Travel to all sites across the North West region (base location to be confirmed).
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 18 months post‑registration experience in Psychology (must have 2 years experience before formal appointment).
