Langford Vets are looking for a radiographer to join our close-knit team, consisting of three radiographers, four consultant radiologists and four radiology residents. You would be working in our multi-disciplinary small animal hospital supporting our clinical services. If desired there is the opportunity to be involved in clinical research within the hospital.

  • 128 slice CT scanner with dual energy and cardiac capabilities
  • 1.5T MRI scanner
  • DR room and mobile DR system
  • Two videofluoroscopy units

You must hold either a BSc in diagnostic radiography or DCR qualification, or equivalent. Previous cross-sectional experience is desirable. Full training will be given on the intricacies of veterinary image acquisition so previous veterinary practice experience is not required, though experience in handling dogs and cats is advantageous. You should be able to work independently as well as within the imaging and wider hospital team.

Enthusiasm and adeptness in multitasking is essential.

Salary will be commensurate with experience (equivalent to NHS Band 5/6). Langford Vets offer a comprehensive and competitive employee benefits package.

Reports To:Clinical Lead in Diagnostic Imaging

Job Purpose

To provide an excellent diagnostic imaging service to clinical services within the hospital.

  • To ensure smooth operation of the clinical activities of the imaging service by acquiring diagnostic imaging studies including radiography, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI, and assisting in maintaining the area to allow clinical throughput.
  • To maintain excellent communication with clinicians and nurses across the small animal hospital.
  • To provide on-clinic supervision and instruction of veterinary and veterinary nursing students in safe and efficient use of imaging equipment and techniques.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Liaising with the hospital flow coordinator, as well as hospital clinicians and nurses, and members of the imaging team ensuring that the imaging service is run efficiently.
  • Ensuring all imaging studies are of adequate diagnostic quality.
  • Maintaining accurate records of imaging procedures including accurate and timely billing.
  • Assisting with routine upkeep of the imaging areas, including QA of equipment and stock control.
  • Assisting with clinical teaching and assessment of veterinary and veterinary nursing students.
  • Undertaking relevant additional training as requested, in order to expand clinical services offered within Langford Vets
  • Performing administrative tasks as required and requested by the hospital management team.
  • Complying with all Langford Vets protocols and procedures.
  • Supporting growth of the service through involvement in marketing initiatives undertaken by Langford Vets.
  • Proactively identifying and acting on opportunities for business improvement. Openly identifying and discussing problems, in order to implement and sustain improvements that increase the value we deliver to our clients, employees and students.
  • Undertaking any reasonable requests made by your line manager.
