On behalf of our client, a well‑established industrial contractor in the Lower Mainland,  Match Box Consulting Group  is seeking an experienced site superintendent. Our client has recently launched a  new Heavy Civil / Heavy Industrial division  to support a growing portfolio of infrastructure and industrial projects across British Columbia.

This division focuses on  self‑performed and subcontracted heavy civil scopes  for industrial clients, marine terminals, and partnered infrastructure work. Projects typically range from  $1M–$10M  and involve hands‑on field leadership rather than large, layered site teams.

This role is ideal for a superintendent who has progressed through  mid‑size contractors  and is comfortable owning the site, making decisions, and being accountable for safety, schedule, quality, and cost.

Some  travel within BC  is required depending on project location.

Position Summary
The  Site Superintendent  is responsible for overseeing all on‑site operations to ensure projects are completed  safely, on schedule, and within budget . The individual serves as the primary on‑site leader and point of contact, coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, enforcing quality standards, and maintaining strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

The superintendent works closely with project managers, safety personnel, trades, inspectors, and clients, ensuring clear communication, accurate documentation, and proactive issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Safety

Act as the primary on‑site contact for all incidents (minor and major)

Lead accident and incident investigations with support from safety leadership

Notify senior leadership of medical aid incidents, major accidents, or third‑party involvement

Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and enforce site‑specific safety plans

Coordinate utility locates and One Calls

Ensure Notices of Project (NOPs) and WorkSafeBC documentation are available on site

Conduct weekly site inspections and safety meetings

Maintain pre‑job safety boards, OHS manuals, WHMIS binders, and required documentation

Verify weekly safety paperwork totals and crew compliance

Cost Control, AP/AR & Time

Participate in monthly cost, billing, and schedule reviews with the project manager

Submit clear, accurate weekly quantity reports

Identify and report extra work, including budget impacts

Prepare and submit Extra Work Orders (EWOs) with supporting documentation

Track job costs and communicate variances proactively

Scheduling

Develop the baseline schedule with the project manager at project start

Manage short‑term and look‑ahead schedules

Provide weekly schedule updates and maintain shared access to current schedules

Job Start‑Up & Closeout

Review contracts, handover documents, and scopes prior to mobilization

Participate in formal job handover meetings

Coordinate job start‑up activities, including procurement and subcontractor onboarding

Confirm scope completion and support substantial completion milestones

Manage as‑built drawings, testing records, and closeout documentation

Lead lessons‑learned tracking (“Good, Bad, Better”) and complete closeout checklists

Day‑to‑Day Site Management

Maintain a consistent on‑site presence (minimum 8 hours/day)

Coordinate multiple projects based on workload and priorities

Provide regular progress updates to the project manager

Communicate scope changes and field issues promptly

Coordinate subcontractors, equipment, inspections, and deliveries

Enforce quality control standards and verify workmanship

Track remaining work and production against estimates

Resolve field issues with subcontractors, engineers, inspectors, and clients

Schedule equipment moves and manage site logistics

Mentor and lead crews and supporting site staff

Maintain permits, One Calls, inspections, and site compliance

Build and maintain strong on‑site client relationships

Qualifications
Required

High school diploma or equivalent

5+ years of construction supervision experience

Minimum 2 years in heavy civil, heavy industrial, or infrastructure environments

Proven ability to run projects independently from start to finish

First Aid / CPR Level 2
