Reporting to the Construction Planning & Quality Manager, Hall Constructors is seeking a Quality Control Coordinator - Level 2 to support a major Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) project in Abbotsford, BC. This role is project-specific and will support the Project Quality Manager in executing the project-specific Quality Management System (QMS) and contract quality requirements on-site. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing quality documentation, coordinating materials testing and inspection activities, and ensuring compliance with MoTI specifications and standards throughout the construction lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

Coordinate on-site materials testing (e.g., density tests, concrete sampling, asphalt coring) with third-party labs as required by contract specifications.

Review materials test results for compliance and flag any deviations from acceptance criteria.

Ensure all required test data, certifications, and lab reports are collected, filed, and submitted in accordance with MoTI requirements.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, including daily inspection logs, test results, and material receiving documentation.

Support the Quality Manager in preparing and submitting monthly quality reports, material submittals, and turnover packages to the client and/or owner’s representative.

Assist with the organization of documentation required for MoTI audits, verifications, or QA reviews.

Track material submittals, mill certificates, and other compliance documents for delivered materials and fabricated components.

Confirm that all materials incorporated into the work have been pre-approved and meet the contract technical requirements.

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to collect necessary quality documentation and ensure it is complete prior to use.

Technical Skills

Working knowledge of MoTI standard specifications, quality control testing, and documentation practices.

Familiarity with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), compaction testing standards, concrete and asphalt quality control.

Experience coordinating third-party materials testing and QA/QC documentation on MoTI-funded projects.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test reports.

Experience supporting Quality Managers or Engineers on large public infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years of experience in quality control or inspection roles on highway, bridge, or civil infrastructure projects.

Civil engineering diploma, construction management, or related technical education is an asset.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital file organization.

Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and ability to work full-time on site.

Interpersonal Skills

Demonstrated work ethic and team collaboration.

Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong documentation mindset.

Proactive and dependable in managing daily field tasks and quality reporting deadlines.

Clear communicator capable of working with field crews, subcontractors, and client representatives.

Practical understanding of construction workflows and the importance of inspection timing and documentation.
