Patient Access Manager (250002EH)

The Patient Access Manager, reporting to the Director of Patient Access, will manage the organizational and administrative operations of the 24/7 Patient Access Department. The role includes supervisory duties such as hiring, training, evaluating, and day‑to‑day management of the patient access team (Admissions, Emergency Department, Laboratory and Radiology Registration and Scheduling, and Financial Counseling). Responsibilities emphasize customer service, patient satisfaction, staff development, fiscal goals, and quality assurance.

The manager will also assist with financial aspects, work with medical, nursing, and accounting staff to ensure appropriate patient placement, and will rotate shift coverage as needed while floating between locations within Patient Access (SZ Campus, United Medical Center, and Off‑site Ancillary locations).

Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Required)

  • Required Skills/Knowledge:
    • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
    • Ability to delegate assignments and follow through on details
    • Excellent consumer relations skills
    • Knowledge of physician, hospital‑based billing practices (preferred)
    • Knowledge of hospital scheduling and billing systems
    • Strong analytical problem‑solving skills and ability to work with information systems
    • Outstanding project management and task prioritization abilities; ability to meet pre‑determined deadlines
    • Ability to supervise, counsel, train, and develop staff; advanced technical skills, as appropriate
    • Must be effective and efficient in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple competing tasks and priorities
    • Proficient in Microsoft products
    • Bilingual a plus

Human Resource Management
  • Participate in the implementation and evaluation of services, programs, and performance standards to achieve departmental goals
  • Coordinate daily activities of support staff with regard to workload requirements and available resources
  • Provide ongoing feedback with staff, including rounding, meetings, and staff huddles
  • Monitor appointment and registration quality, call quality, report problems, and recommend solutions to ensure standards are met
  • Monitor department flow, implement performance improvement initiatives to ensure physician and staff productivity
  • Monitor time and attendance work quality and behavior and address accordingly
Compliance / Facility Management
  • Promote awareness of and adherence to organizational, state and federal regulatory standards to ensure quality of patient service delivery
  • Participate in the ongoing assessment of Practice Operations policies and procedures to establish continued feasibility
  • Ensure provision of a safe, secure, clean work and patient care environment, including full equipment functionality and interaction with business contacts/service vendors to ensure availability of services at all times
  • Monitor space utilization to ensure proper use of space and expansion needs are met
Budget and Financial Analysis / Planning Revenue Enhancement
  • Prepare documentation and projections to support the operating and capital budget planning process
  • Evaluate and recommend purchase of new equipment needed to maximize productivity and quality of care
  • Implement actions to facilitate meeting budget requirements and administer programs within budgetary guidelines
  • Provide monthly reports to leadership identifying outcomes and opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain effective working relationships with hospital departments and ROCs, and represent CNMC in professional groups and community outreach activities
  • Participate in the planning for new business opportunities and services in support of the CNMC mission
Charge / Data Entry Processing
  • Ensure daily reconciliation of schedules and charge documents, with CPT and ICD‑9 coding, and that demographic changes have been made in the system, and that appropriate referrals…
