SAP Strategic Budgeting and Planning (SBP) Consultant
As an SAP Strategic Budgeting and Planning (SBP) Consultant, the SAP Strategic Budget and Planning Consultant will play a pivotal role in supporting strategic budgeting and planning initiatives within public sector ERP environments. Drawing on extensive hands-on experience with SAP SBP modules, Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), and SAP Ariba, this consultant will focus on implementing and optimizing solutions tailored to the unique needs of government budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.
The consultant’s responsibilities will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated SAP solutions that not only fulfill public sector mandates but also drive operational efficiency and enable strategic decision-making, in a public sector setting while leveraging the synergy between SAP SBP and SAP Ariba to connect long-term financial planning with day-to-day procurement activities.
- Lead the implementation and configuration of SAP SBP to support public sector budget formulation, execution, and performance reporting.
- Translate agency-specific financial and operational planning requirements into SAP SBP functional designs.
- Develop and maintain SBP forms, workflows, and reports tailored to government budgeting cycles and fiscal year constraints.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Integrate SBP with SAP ECC/SAP S/4
HANA and other modules such as Funds Management (FM), Grants Management (GM), and Public Sector Management (PSM). - Support annual budget development, mid-year reviews, and long-range planning processes.
- Provide training and documentation for agency staff and stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SBP-related issues, including data reconciliation and reporting discrepancies.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to support system upgrades, enhancements, and audit readiness.
- Analyze current business processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand strategic planning needs and translate business requirements into SAP SBP/IBP solutions.
- Design SAP SBP solutions tailored to client needs; configure planning models, key figures, and planning areas; customize dashboards and analytics for strategic decision-making.
- Lead or support the implementation of SAP SBP modules and integrate SBP with other SAP modules like S/4
HANA, APO, or BW. - Lead end-to-end integration between SAP ECC and SAP Ariba Cloud applications using SAP PI/PO, ABAP, ALE, IDOC, RFC, WSDL, and Enterprise Services; map Ariba-delivered RFCs and proxy objects into SAP ECC; implement custom enhancements to bridge gaps in out-of-box Ariba–SAP ECC solutions.
- Synchronize master data across Ariba modules with custom filters and export programs; collaborate with Ariba Shared Services to activate and configure changes aligned with SBP planning requirements.
- Standardize global sourcing and contract templates and integrate spend analytics using Ariba Spend Visibility with SAP BW or SAC.
- Develop and roll out SAP Fiori apps for desktop and mobile procurement workflows aligned with SBP planning cycles.
- Ensure data consistency and system compatibility across platforms; develop and manage forecasting models and enable scenario planning to support long-term business strategies.
- Use predictive analytics to guide strategic decisions; train end-users and business teams on SBP functionalities; provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting; document processes and maintain system configurations; monitor system performance and recommend enhancements.
- Stay updated with SAP SBP releases and best practices; collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine planning processes.
- Requires onsite support during core government business hours (e.g., 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) with occasional evening or weekend availability for critical updates or fiscal year-end activities.
