Subject Matter Expert (Network Security Engineer)
E-Logic is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Subject Matter Expert - Network Security Engineer to support the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a critical role as the senior technical authority, overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of the IRS's network security infrastructure, and ensuring the agency's network defense posture is resilient, compliant, and fully optimized for mission delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and implementation of highly secure, scalable network architectures, including segmentation, boundary protection, and cloud network integration (e.g., VPC, VNet security).
- Serve as the primary technical expert for configuring, hardening, and troubleshooting major network security devices, including enterprise firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco), Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), and Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
- Develop and manage complex routing and access control lists (ACLs) to enforce least privilege principles across the IRS network.
- Conduct regular network security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing remediation efforts.
- Ensure all network security operations and documentation meet federal compliance standards, including FISMA, NIST 800-53, and agency-specific requirements.
- Bachelors of Science in Computer Networking
- Minimum 10 years of experience in network engineering
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
This role is part of a proposal for the Internal Revenue Services (IRS). Hiring is contingent upon the selection of the consultant. Selected candidates will be included in the proposal and must authorize the use of their resume for submission.
