Program Overview
About The Role Peraton is seeking a Senior Software Test Automation Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate is a senior testing professional who thrives in dynamic environments, provides leadership across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies, and ensures testing excellence through proactive guidance and cross‑team collaboration. This position will be in Lanham, Maryland.
What will you do:
- Conduct functional and/or integration testing of multiple programs in an IBM mainframe or client/server environment.
- Proactively identify use cases for test automation within supported projects.
- Use test automation tools to execute test scripts that validate functional, technical, and performance requirements.
- Use Government or Contractor‑developed documentation to construct test cases with predetermined results and test data to verify program functionality and/or interfaces through assigned systems.
- Review output to determine whether the test results fulfill the established requirements, and if necessary, notify the responsible programmers, both verbally and in writing, of errors, omissions, and inconsistencies in the programs and/or documentation.
- Coordinate test activities with project stakeholders.
- Coordinate work assignments to ensure timely and accurate completion of testing.
- Train other contractors or government personnel in use of automated testing tools.
- Lead and oversee testing activities with initiative and accountability, applying deep expertise while guiding others and rapidly adapting to new systems and domains.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA OR 16 years of experience with a HS Degree/Diploma
- Demonstrated mastery in software testing, bringing deep expertise and advanced problem‑solving capabilities.
- Provides strategic guidance on testing practices across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery models, ensuring alignment and quality across diverse project environments.
- Experience leading and assisting other Test Engineers.
- Must have knowledge and experience working with and supporting the development of an overall test Plan and tailored test plans for each release.
- Must have experience preparing comprehensive reports on testing progress/issues and remedial action.
- Hands‑on work with IBM Rational ELM suite including Rational Doors Next Generation (DNG), Rational Requirements Composer (RRC), Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), and Engineering Test Management (ETM).
- Experience using test automation tools including Selenium, UiPath, QTP, HP‑UFT, Rational Functional Tester, and other tools.
- Familiarity with test management tools such as Xray for JIRA, version control and collaborative software such as Git Hub, and work management software such as Atlassian.
- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green card holder—must have 3 or more US residency).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an MBI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current active IRS MBI Clearance strongly preferred.
- Experience working with the federal government.
- Knowledge of current IRS tax administration software applications.
- Experience with IBM Mainframe or Unisys Mainframe applications and operations.
