RN AVP Clinical Operations MS Transport

MedSTAR Transport provides care to about 5,000 patients each year across Baltimore and the greater Washington, D.C. area. Our fleet includes state‑of‑the‑art medevac helicopters and ambulances, allowing us to deliver advanced care wherever patients are located.

As a Flight Nurse at MedSTAR Transport, you will support critical‑care clinical protocols, manage complex medical patients during air and ground transport, and ensure quality care and safety across the region.

• Professional Practice: Maintain current licensure, certifications, and continuing education. Provide coaching and development for staff.
• Clinical Oversight: Perform chart reviews, performance monitoring, and direct observation. Ensure policies are evidence‑based and current.
• Supervision: Directly supervise Flight, Ground, and Communications Operations Managers and the Professional Development Director. Lead planning, development, and evaluation of training programs.
• Customer Relations: Consistently embody SPIRIT values when interacting with patients, referring facilities, and team members.
• Professional Development: Keep abreast of nursing and prehospital medicine trends. Attend seminars and conferences. Drive own professional growth.
• Supports Professional Development: Advise nurse leaders on the academic progression of nurses. Collaborate on grant acquisition.
• Optimizes Clinical Practice Processes: Maintain DEA compliance and narcotics oversight. Collaborate on equipment acquisition and maintenance. Ensure necessary supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals are accessible.
• Safety Promotion: Promote a strong safety culture.
• Personal Accountability: Lead by example, uphold teamwork, and support program safety standards.
• Develop Department Goals and Policies: Create and recommend operating budget and manage resources.
• Personnel Management: Select, train, orient, and evaluate department staff. Conduct performance planning and decision‑making.
• Community and Quality: Participate in community outreach, committees, and multidisciplinary improvement teams.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program (required). Master’s degree preferred. Complete Maryland MIEMSS required QA course within 6 months of hire.>

Experience: 3–4 years critical‑care emergency services nursing experience (required). 5–7 years progressive leadership experience (required). Prior experience working for a CAMTS accredited program preferred.

Licenses and

Certifications:

Current Registered Nursing licensure in the District of Columbia and Maryland (required). ACLS, PALS, NRP, ITLS, ATLS/TNATC, and STABLE certification within 1 year (required). Certified Flight Registered Nurse, Certified Transport Registered Nurse, or Certified Critical Care RN within 2 years of hire (required).
