Responsibilities- Responsible for the supervision of all Supervisors to include performance evaluation, continuous coaching, training, disciplinary action, and retention. Manages Supervisors daily productivity through established department goals and objectives.
- As required, functions on a supervisory capacity for the Safety and Security department in the absence of supervisors. Must be able to remain at LHAAMC for extended periods if adverse weather or special security situations arise. Must be willing to work on-call outside of normal business hours and remain available to consult with staff or report to work when necessary. Serves in the absence of Director of Safety and Security as needed.
- Participates in the employment process to include interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees according to established departmental and organizational processes.
- Responds to safety and security incidents and emergency situations, according to department procedures, to provide necessary assistance to employees and customers; proficient in and utilizes nonviolent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure staff, patients, visitors and all others remain safe, calm, and respected while on site.
- Oversees department daily schedule and payroll with assistance from other supervisor(s) for the Security officers and assigns responsibilities in accordance with workload requirements. This includes finding the appropriate coverage if there are call offs and being able to perform the assignments.
- Investigates and conducts criminal and non‑criminal investigations, conducts appropriate follow up on all incident reports submitted via established hospital reporting system.
- Collaborates with applicable law enforcement agencies relative to hospital security investigations or other campus activity as needed.
- Assists in the development of department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Coordinates, plans, develops, conducts, and coordinates Safety and Security staff development and training programs with special emphasis for Conflict Management and Crisis Prevention. The Security training will evaluate and identify training needs, and set programs, instructional objectives, design curriculum, develop lesson plans and learning packages, and use L&D techniques to create learning aids. Facilitates groups and individual Safety and Security training programs specifically based on the needs of the health system.
Coordinates/leads discussion groups and stimulates participants in the learning process. Serves as the lead contact for the Security training. Responsible for supervising the security training programs, staff trainers, and related responsibilities. Participates in meetings, committees or other work groups as necessary. - Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
Microsoft Office applications, Access Control, CCTV, Fire Alarm, and other security operations center and health system applications as necessary. - Adheres to and exhibits our Luminis Health RISE values committing to a culture of Respect, Inclusion, Service, and Excellence.
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in‑services, requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Understands regulatory requirements with regard to compliance and all other laws and regulations that apply to the organizational operations (e.g. Code of Conduct) and how these regulations apply to the individual’s role/ department/ unit. Proactive in addressing compliance issues; reporting through appropriate channels such as supervisor, chain of command and Ethics Point. Completes mandatory introductory and ongoing training within the specified time frames.
