Schedule/Calendar: 7 hrs./day, 35 hrs./week, 183 days/year (Hours vary)
SummaryThe staff nurse is a skilled health care provider who administers first aid and other health services to students as needed. As a professionally trained person, the staff nurse is expected to demonstrate sensitivity to the health needs of all students.
Responsibilities- Provides first aid services to students and school personnel in accordance with district guidelines.
- Administers medications and treatments to students in accordance with prescription of the student's physician and direction of the North Penn School District medical director.
- Assists in the execution of the mandated program as directed by the certified school nurse.
- Contacts parent/guardian regarding an injured or ill student.
- Keeps records and other documents accurate and up-to-date.
- Confers with the school nurse at regular intervals and with the principal and school nurse coordinator as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students and student records.
- Acts as a liaison between school, home and community in conjunction with the school nurse.
- Collaborates with the school nurse to identify community health resources and assist students and/or parents/guardians with their use.
- Serves as a health consultant to school personnel in conjunction with the school nurse.
- Assists the school nurse in planning a healthful school environment to meet the needs of the individual student.
- Assists in assessing the social, emotional and physical needs of students and reports these needs to the school nurse, parents and teachers.
- Follows North Penn School district policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Assists in keeping the health suite clean and orderly.
- Restocks health room supplies and maintains inventory.
- Performs other related duties as directed by the school nurse.
Licensed professional nurse in Pennsylvania
Experience NeededMinimum 2 years nursing experience
Requisite Skills- Valid CPR and First Aid certificate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, phone etiquette and conflict resolution skills
- Multi‑task capabilities
- Ability to work within timelines
