Wages/Grade:$19.42-$22.33/hour* (steps 1-5)

Probate Court Clerk – Under the supervision of the Probate Register/Adoption Coordinator (and the Deputy Probate Register/Adoption Clerk in absence of or as directed by Probate Register/Adoption Coordinator), with support and direction from the Circuit/Probate/Family Court Administrator, and as part of the Probate Court team, performs a wide variety of case processing functions for the Probate Court according to established procedures.

Processes filing of documents, including intake, review, and computer entry related to estates, involuntary mental commitments, guardian ships, conservatorships, and other probate matters, as well as Family Division filings that are processed through Probate Court, which includes name changes and emancipations. This position is responsible for entering case information into the case management computer system, scheduling matters for hearing, preparing notices, performing other tasks related to the processing of probate matters, and providing customer service at the counter, over the telephone, and through mail correspondence.

Performs general administrative and secretarial functions for the Probate Register/Adoption Coordinator. Performs other duties and responsibilities to support Court operations as directed.

An Associate's Degree is required. Extensive experience in Courts, a law office, other related positions, and proven success may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
